Rice Wearables Lab

A Scalable Health Lab

Rice Wearables Lab is launching Fall 2018, to develop custom wearables and point-of-care devices, based on the research from many ongoing projects in Scalable Health Labs

  • NSF Expeditions in Computing, See Below The Skin, that aims to break the current barriers of bio-imaging.
  • NSF Engineering Research Center, PATHS-UP, that aims to develop disruptive technologies for addressing chronic health challenges in the underserved populations.
  • NIH R01, FLASH, that is developing an automated method to measure screen use among children.

To encourage clinical trials and adoption, the wearables and associated technologies will be made more widely available via Rice Healthsense platform.

Research opportunities are available for both graduate and undergraduate graduates, both during the semester (independent research credit or Rice VIP) and over summers. Please write to Prof. Ashu Sabharwal.
